I am trying to get the boinc client 6.10.17 working on a ps3 running Fedora Core 12. I have only installed the boinc client on a vanilla FC12 installation. The errors produced are:

bash-4.0$ ./boinc_client

Looks like some libraries might be missing but I can't tell much from the output.

Thank you very much for the error report.

Could you please post the output from "ldd boinc_client" and "strace ./boinc".
Does the older BOINC 6.2.19 or 5.10.45 work or has worked on your system ?

Here are the outputs. It looks like it thinks that it is a static executable. It also looks like the program blows up on looking at /etc/hosts.conf:

I guess that it' a GLIBC related problem. The BOINC 6.10.17 uses GLIB 6.10.17. What GLIBC does your Fedora 10 system uses ? - If Fedora uses a older GLIBC, I have got to recompile the BOINC client.
Does the BOINC client 6.2.18 work on your system ?

It doesn't seem to be a problem with glibc (my version is 2.11.2 for Fedora Core 12; they must have different numbering than what you are used to). Boinc 6.2.19 works properly and doesn't get any sigsegv faults.

I just noticed that the PS3 app 6.10.17 does not have a lib directory (in fact none of the clients for the PPC have a lib directory). They used to have a lib directory in 6.2.19 but not in 6.10.17. Is that the problem?

I guess that it's a GLIB problem or the crash caused due the static linking of the binary. - I will recompile a dynamic linked binary asap.
