I'm using a 1Gb pndrive with Dotsch 1.1 x64.
The last 40 days it crunch on ABC@home (after free some space / deleting some unuseful files).
Today the 51 Mb free at df -h reduce to 49 so the ABC@home now say something like:

27/08/2009 01:07:20|ABC@home|Message from server: (there was work but you don't have enough disk space allocated)
27/08/2009 01:07:20|ABC@home|Message from server: Not enough disk space (only 45.3 MB free for BOINC). Review preferences for minimum disk free space allowed.

:(

Then I've try to bzip2 the boincmgr (7Mb) and ... the freespace became 47!! so I've deleted the bzip2 compressed boincmgr and ... the freespace became 45 Mb!!

boinc@boinc:/$ df -h

tmpfs 2.0G 2.4M 2.0G 1% /lib/modules/2.6.27-7-generic/volatile
tmpfs 2.0G 2.4M 2.0G 1% /lib/modules/2.6.27-7-generic/volatile
tmpfs 2.0G 0 2.0G 0% /lib/init/rw
varrun 2.0G 92K 2.0G 1% /var/run
varlock 2.0G 0 2.0G 0% /var/lock
udev 2.0G 2.7M 2.0G 1% /dev
tmpfs 2.0G 0 2.0G 0% /dev/shm
rootfs 124M 74M 45M 63% /
/dev/sdc1 960M 951M 10M 99% /cdrom
/dev/loop0 581M 581M 0 100% /rofs
tmpfs 124M 74M 45M 63% /tmp
tmpfs 2.0G 2.4M 2.0G 1% /lib/modules/2.6.27-7-generic/volatile
tmpfs 2.0G 2.4M 2.0G 1% /lib/modules/2.6.27-7-generic/volatile

How can I free more space (what files to delete), or set BOINC to use a lower "minimum disk free space allowed" ?

Regards,
Ale

EDIT
I've performed some others attempts ...
I've modified this row in the file global_prefs_override.xml:

<disk_min_free_gb>0.001</disk_min_free_gb>

and from a windows boincmanager run the command "advanced - read local prefs file" ... nevertheless the message log show a different size!

27/08/2009 01:56:59||Reading preferences override file
27/08/2009 01:56:59||Preferences limit memory usage when active to 3564.25MB
27/08/2009 01:56:59||Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 3564.25MB
27/08/2009 01:56:59||Preferences limit disk usage to 0.05GB

Performing many attempts changing the disk_min_free_gb value, the log size always change and always is different from the .xml one! :o

It might be better to either go to ABC and set the global prefs (used by all computers on all projects).

ABC -> your account -> general prefs ->

then take a look at both of these settings:

Leave at least 0.88 GB disk space free
Use at most 88% of total disk space

It is uses "AND" logic so it must satisfy both of these.

If you make changes on the project page then you'll need to "Update" ABC on the local machine to pick up the new global preferences.

Both of these could also be set for just THAT machine via the gui boincmgr in the menu Advanced -> Preferences -> Disk & Memory Usage.

I think the .xml file will be overwritten on some fairly regular basis with the results from either of the above.
