The hard disk and usb installers do not see an external USB hard disk. It shows up on the desktop, but not when I run the wizard.
Is there any way to get this going?
I'd rather not go out and buy an SATA laptop hard drive if I can avoid it.

I will have to try to rebuild this scenario in my lab, and check if I we get it working.
I am sorry for the delay, but I have no quick fix solution in the moment.

Eventualy you can try to umount the found USB disk, and restart the USB or Hard Disk installers again.

I want to do the diskless client setup so I will need to get this one working off a hard drive.
Ubuntu installs cleanly to the external USB hard drive.

Is there a way to execute your scripts to finish off the configuration after the base install is done?

This can be put on the back burner if you wish. I've got with another machine to act as the host
