Hello,

I would like to download above image but I've got some problems:
1. First link gives me a broken file (file size is about 370MB),
2. Second link gives me a file with bad md5 checksum,
3. Third link (via ftp) doesn't work at all,
4. Fourth link (torrent) is downloading very slooow (only one peer).

What am I doing wrong? Can you help me?

And I've another question - I assume that finally I will have a correct ISO image with correct md5 checksum. I would like to install the newest BOINC manager. Before this I must upgrade Dotsch/UX with patch?

Thanks for anser, greetings from Poland

Michal

I am very sorry for the troubles.
My ftp server got a broken power supply. I have fixed it, and the download should work again. If it will not work, please contact me, that I can offer you a alternate download source.

For which download source do you get the md5 errors or the broken file size

The patch is only, if you would like to upgrade a running Dotsch/UX 1.1 system to Dotsch/UX 1.2. The actual iso images don't require any patches. So the installation is straight on, like described in the manuals.

Hello,

thank you for your answer.

During the night, I've managed to download Dotsch/UX 1.2 i386 via uTorrent. md5 sum is ok. After 5 PM I'll try to install it on my computer and I'll let you know.

Download sources which I mentioned in my first post are from http://www.dotsch.de/boinc/Dotsch_UX.html site.

First link is http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php#dotsch (bad file size, too small).
Second link is http://www.skipsjunk.net/download/dotsch_ux-12_i386.iso (bad md5 sum in comparison to 4d498eacbd53562bdeec845f3fa7f9b5).
Third link was your ftp, but you've fixed this problem.
I was using WinXP (32-bit) with SP3 and Chrome browser to download these files.

During reading page http://www.dotsch.de/boinc/Dotsch_UX.html I've found one error. In point "2.5 Install Patches" you have bad link (it opens the same subpage as point "2.4 BOINC configuration").

Greetings

Michal

Hello,

I'm writing this message from Dotsch/UX 1.2 i386. Everything works fine, I have the newest BOINC manager and my favorite project NFS@Home gives an incredible speed under Linux :D (I have a old laptop, with Intel CoreDuo T2300 @1.66GHz processor and 4GB RAM, so it isn't master of speed)

Thank you very much, greetings

Michal

Greetings Dotsch and Dotsch Users!

I got the same results as Michal.
The link > http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php#dotsch results in a file about 370meg and is incomplete. The HTTP link >> http://www.skipsjunk.net/download/dotsch_ux-12_i386.iso results in an ISO that is 570meg with bad checksum. If I extract the ISO and look at the md5sum.txt file inside, I find that 1 file is corrupt. It's the "squashfs" file system. Your FTP server still appears to be down.

Looks like your distro would be the perfect solution to the problems that I have been having trying to get EdUbuntu running with LTSP and local-apps.

If there is anything that I can do to help speed up the development of Version 2.0 please let me know. I have built a couple custom DSL, SLAX, and Knoppix LiveCD's so I have a little experience.

Do you have scripts available that I could use in conjunction with the newest Ubuntu Live and Boinc 6.10.58 clients?

I'd love to help out if I could. Let me know.

Peter Rowell

I have been fighting an Ed-Ubuntu LTSP install

Greetings,

Success!! I finally got through to the Dotsch FTP server and I downloaded and installed the distro without any md5sum errors. I have all 8 nodes of my little Boinc-Farm crunching away!! So much easier than the Edubuntu LTSP approach.

I have 8 MoBo's each with 2 gig ECC DDR and 2 - Xeon 2400mhz hyperthreaded CPU's. 16 physical - 32 logical cores.. I have managed to overclock these (vintage) units to 3200mhz by cranking up the 400mhz bus speed to 533mhz. 1 Primary Boinc server, 1 Backup Boinc server, and 6 diskless nodes.

Onto my next problem... WOW these Xeon's really kick out the heat.. I'm looking at a way to duct the heat upstairs so as not to waste this energy. Might as well heat the house this winter with CPU-BTU's!!

Looking forward to Version 2.0
