Hello Lars,
first of all: You did a fantastic job with creating this tool, absolutely amazing! I looked forward to such a possibility for a long time.

But unfortunately I am too incompeten for installing it.

I want to create a Dotsch USB stick and downloaded this file:
http://www.skipsjunk.net/download/dotsch_ux-11_x64.iso

I created the disk and completed step 1 from your instructions.

"After the installation, reboot the system, remove the CD from the drive and set the USB stick as bootable device
in the BIOS and boot from the USB stick.

• Now, the USB stick must be customised for BOINC. Please start the BOINC USB installer by selecting
Applications / Dotsch/UX USB Tools / Install Dotsch/UX on the USB Stick (2. Step) from, the applications menu "

This works fine. But I have not been able to succeed with step 2.

The Terminal Window opens and 1/5 is no problem. But when doing 2/5, it askes me:
Create Boinc home image...
This could take about 2.5 min...
[sudo] password for boinc:

And now I am stuck. I can't type a thing in that window, the cursor just blinks but it won't accept any enterings.

So what am I supposed to do now?

Thanks for the help,
ZG

You have got to click into the window and type in the default password "boinc" for the user account boinc and press enter. The password is hidden and would not be visible.

Thank you, I actually did this before but I forgot the "takes some time". So I just assumed nothing would happen and closed the window instead of waiting.

Anyhow, now I am stuck with the network configuration. I really hate my own incompetence but I am used to the windows "plug&play", I just connect the router with the computer and it works fine usually.
Run the step 2 a couple of times now, sometimes I let ubuntu configure my network and sometimes I tried it by following your screenshots. I did not succeed.
So annoying. :(

Now I am working with the link to the ubuntu help, let's just hope I will finally be able to configure my lan.

Am I right that you will get the IP from the router via DHCP ?

Have you tried the fix from the Tips&Tricks section ? - If not, could you please try it :

• DHCP adderesses would been not automaticly assigned in Dotsch/UX 1.1. Workaround : Edit the config file
/etc/network/interfaces and add the statement „auto ethX“ before each iface statement, save the file and reboot the
system. For example a fixed config file :
auto lo
iface lo iface lo inet loopback
auto eth0
auto eth0 iface eth0 dhcp
auto eth1
auto eth1 iface eth0 dhcp
